Kling 4.0 Omni Reference with a character pack

Kling 4.0 lets you combine images, videos and saved subjects as references in one generation, up to 10 of them images. Kling lists character turnarounds as one of the image types, so a pack's separate front, side and back views go in as they are. Here is which pack file to put in each image slot.

We have not made an example with Kling 4.0 yet, and it was still in early access when we checked. This page maps the pack to Kling's published limits; the nine examples on this site were made with Kling 3.0.

What Kling 4.0 allows

Checked 2026-10-13
  • Up to 15 reference assets in one generation, with separate caps inside that total.
  • Up to 10 images: subject images, character turnarounds, image grids, storyboards and wireframes.
  • Up to 5 reference videos, 30 seconds combined, and up to 7 subjects, of which up to 3 can be built from video.
  • Output runs 3 to 30 seconds, up to 4K and 21:9, with stereo audio and lip-sync.
  • Early access began rolling out on 28 September 2026, with the full model announced for October 2026. Limits in your account may differ until then.

The 10 image slots

Upload in this order so slot numbers stay the same from shot to shot. Slots 1 to 4 fix identity, 5 to 7 the outfit, product and place; 8 and 9 change per shot.

  1. image 102_turnaround_views/view_front.pngFace and front of the outfit
  2. image 202_turnaround_views/view_side.pngProfile and hair from the side
  3. image 302_turnaround_views/view_back.pngHair and outfit from behind
  4. image 401_character_reference/full_body.pngHeight and proportions
  5. image 503_outfits/outfit_work.pngThe job outfit
  6. image 604_props/prop_role.pngThe product or tool
  7. image 705_scenes/scene_workspace.pngThe location
  8. image 807_expressions_poses/expression_*.pngThe expression closest to the shot
  9. image 907_expressions_poses/pose_*.pngThe pose closest to the action

Slot 10 is left free for a storyboard or keyframe of your own. Kling's guidance is to give each reference one clear job, so leave out the overview sheet: it repeats the three views at a smaller size.

Or save the character as a subject

Kling 4.0 also takes saved subjects alongside images. If you already made a Kling element from the front, side, back and full-body images, reuse it as the subject and spend the image slots on the outfit, product, scene and the shot's expression and pose.

Point at the references in the prompt

Kling's 4.0 pages do not say how to write a reference in the prompt. Replace each [image N] with the tag Kling inserts when you pick that reference in the prompt box.

Prompt template

[image 1], [image 2] and [image 3] are the front, side and back of the same character, [name]: [age], [skin, eyes, hair]. Body proportions as in [image 4]. [He / She] wears the outfit from [image 5] and holds the [product] from [image 6], in the room from [image 7], with the expression from [image 8]. [Action]. [Camera], single continuous shot. No extra people, no text or logos, no outfit change.

The pack's two video first frames are start frames, not identity references. To start the shot from one, use it as the first frame instead of a slot.

Questions

Can Kling 4.0 use a three-view sheet?
Yes. Kling lists character turnarounds among the image references it accepts. The pack has the three views as separate files, so each takes its own slot at full size instead of three small figures sharing one.
Do I need to fill all 10 image slots?
No. Slots 1 to 4 do most of the identity work. Add the outfit, product and scene when the shot shows them, and one expression or pose. Images that do not match each other add drift rather than consistency.
Should I switch from Kling 3.0?
Our nine examples are made with Kling 3.0 and that setup still works. Kling 4.0 adds more references, longer shots and 4K, but we have not tested it, so we cannot say it keeps characters steadier.
